TICA Cat Show in Kansas, September 2024

In September of 2024 we were able to attend another TICA cat show, hosted by the KansasKatz Club in Wichita, KS. This was our third show to attend with the KansasKatz club. The Maine Coon kitten class was quite large at this show, with 21 Maine Coon kittens in total!

We attended this show with Dynamite, Biggie, and Missy all in the kitten class. This was Dynamite’s third TICA show and Biggie & Missy’s second TICA show. We also had Aly-Baba with us at the show to attend the HCM Screening Clinic with Dr. Justin Thomason for his repeat screening. To start off the weekend on a high note, his echocardiogram was clear! No abnormalities, no murmur, no signs of HCM at Age 4, will be 5 in January. We attended both days which was 14 rings in total.

(You may notice that only 12 rings are listed for division. This is because Dynamite was judged as a Red Classic Tabby in 12 of the rings. Since he’s genetically solid red but, appears with tabby markings he can be shown as solid or tabby. It has been decided that Dynamite will be shown as Solid Red from now on, he does not have the traditional tabby markings of white “eyeliner”, white around the ears, or a white muzzle. He also does not have true tabby markings as he is not a tabby. It was pushed for him to show as tabby but, I’ve decided to keep him as what he truly is, solid red. I wanted to add this note to reduce confusion.)

Look at all of those finals! Biggie & Missy received their first finals! Dynamite received Best longhair kitten in show, Biggie received 7th best longhair, and Missy received 8th best longhair kitten in the same final out of thirty-four longhair kittens. Biggie received another 7th best longhair kitten out of thirty-four, and a 9th best longhair kitten on Sunday out of twenty-nine longhair kittens. Dynamite received a 7th best longhair kitten out of 34, 9th best all-breed kitten out of forty-nine kittens on Sunday, and a 2nd best longhair kitten out of twenty-nine on Sunday. It was fun to see the three of them in a final together, then Biggie & Dynamite were in another final together. We are happy with how each of them did, especially considering how many Maine Coon kittens were at this show, 21! Biggie & Missy were also a bit younger than the other kittens in the ring and still did well! They all had fun running around the hotel room and scratching their nails on each post in every ring.
