Meet The Girls of Lucki Maine Coons

Lucki Maine Coonsย is a small cattery located in Missouri. We currently have three girls. Our Maine Coon cats are not only breeding queens but, are first and foremost our family pets and live in our home. We only have 3-4 litters a year. As breeding Maine Coon queens each of our queens have been carefully selected for their exemplary traits including their conformation to theย written breed standard, temperament, and overall health.

We do occasionally have young adult or adult Maine Coons that are available to pet homes. If you are interested in a retiring Maine Coon, fill out ourย contact formย or send us an email. We are currently working on individual pages for each girl with more information, those will be linked soon! We are also working on a “retiree” page which will be linked soon!

Female Maine Coons: What to Expect

Known for their Elegant & Athletic Build: The beloved female Maine Coon Cats are renowned for their elegant appearance. Female Maine Coons do typically have a slightly smaller and more refined build compared to their male counterparts which gives them a graceful and sophisticated presence. The typical range for a female Maine Coon is around 10-15lbs, with some reaching near 20lbs. It is important to remember that the Maine Coon breed is a slowly maturing breed and generally grow until the age of 1 to 2, then fully mature between the 3 to 5 years of age. Although female Maine Coons are typically slightly smaller than male Maine Coons, they are still significantly larger than many other domestic cat breeds, contributing to their nickname, “gentle giants”.

Female or Male? Don’t Choose by Size Alone: Many families may be stuck choosing between a male or female Maine Coon for their family. The common question we receive is, is there a large size difference between the two? If you are solely looking for a Maine Coon based off of their size, you may decide to pick a male. Although do not count the females out, many female Maine Coons turn out to be just as “large” as males. When deciding to bring a Maine Coon into your family, size should not be your main deciding factor. There are many great things that create the beloved “gentle giants” that are Maine Coons.

Temperament & Home Life: In our experience, Maine Coons are friendly, social, and easygoing regardless of gender. The biggest difference maker in temperament is proper socialization, that’s what helps kittens grow into the confident, outgoing companions we all adore. Every kitten still has their own individual temperament and some quirky traits you may notice could be inherited from your Maine Coon kitten’s parents. We always encourage choosing based on personality and fit. Pair that with the right enrichment at home, such as tall cat trees, scratching posts, & interactive play, and you’ll bring out the absolute best in them. In our home, the girls do tend to be the couch loungers.
