Welcome to Lucki Maine Coons!

We are so glad that you’re here to learn more about our world. As a family run cattery, Lucki Maine Coons is a small, in-home Missouri Maine Coon cattery that breeds and shows Championship Maine Coon cats in TICA & CFA as well as Maine Coon Polydactyl cats in TICA. We’re devoted to producing healthy, affectionate, and structurally sound Maine Coon kittens that meet the breed standard and grow into extraordinary companions. Each cat in our program is part of our daily life, and every litter we raise reflects our deep commitment to quality, integrity, and love for the breed.

If you are wondering, we’ve pretty much always been cat people (as if having a cattery doesn’t make it obvious enough). For as long as we can remember, there’s always been at least one cat in our home, laying on the counter, tip toeing around the stair railings, and causing chaos per usual. Weโ€™ve had dogs too (wonderful dogs, in fact). Though the quiet, intuitive companionship of a cat has always just felt like home. Naturally, when we discovered the Maine Coon cat, it felt like meeting the celebrity version of everything we already loved about cats. The larger-than-life personality, intelligence, gentle nature, and yes, just a little dramatic when they want to be. Sounds like the perfect 15+lbs companion to bring into your home, right?

Prior to bringing our first Maine Coon into our family, we dove into research. We took the time to learn (and are still learning everyday) about what responsible breeding means in regards to the Maine Coon cat as well as feline genetics, proper health testing, and the Maine Coon breed standard. We learned about what it truly means to preserve a breed’s integrity and hope to do our best to contribute in a positive way for years to come. After a lot of planning and careful prepping for our first gentle giant, we brought our first Maine Coon home in 2020, amidst the chaos of a worldwide pandemic. Although even with all of the reading and studying, I won’t lie, I was extremely surprised by the size of the cat we had just picked up, I remember being like, “Is she really still coming out of the carrier, there’s more of her?”. Quite a funny moment to look back on now, several years later. You can see our first Maine Coon pictured below, Svetty.

Our first Maine Coon, named Happy by her breeder, known as Svetty to us was our very first Maine Coon. She had four healthy litters as a queen and retired after her last litter was born in October of 2022. Svetty will be seven in February of 2026 she occasionally shows with TICA. She received her Champion Alter title in January of 2024 & is halfway to a Grand Champion Alter title. Svetty has always been one of our most outgoing, loving cats and I couldnโ€™t think of a better cat to start off / be introduced into the breed with. She really embodies the spirit and is the true definition of  a โ€œgentle giantโ€.

Our cattery, Lucki Maine Coons is a family affair. we do everything with our kittens & cats. All of our cats are handled by us daily and live in our home as they are our personal pets as well as breeding cats. We do not keep any of our Maine Coon kittens or cats in cages, we also do not utilize outside kennels or buildings. Our Maine Coon kittens and cats are raised in our home. It is important to note while our cats do live in our home as our pets, for the health and safety of our cats, our intact males do live separately from our intact females. Our Maine Coon cats are also indoor only. Unless we are going out with the stroller, our cats stay indoors at all times. We do not believe that they are missing out by not being allowed outside. Unless potentially missing out on animal traps, vehicles, poisoning, various parasites, being stolen, contagious diseases such as Feline Leukemia or Feline โ€œAidsโ€, wild animals/predators is considered missing out on life for a cat. We prefer for our kittens to also be kept indoors. In addition to your Maine Coon not being exposed to hazards outside, it is said that cats that are kept indoors exclusively have a stronger bond with their owners.

Lucki Maine Coons is one of the few Maine Coon catteries in Missouri that actively shows both Maine Coon & Maine Coon Polydactyl cats & kittens. We are proudly registered with TICA – The International Cat Association & CFA – Cat Fanciers Association and we actively show our cats in both organizations. We enjoy showing our cats and shows are the perfect place for you to be able to meet us and our cats in person. As a TICA and CFA registered cattery, exhibiting our cats isn’t all about sheer competition, it’s about upholding breed integrity and accountability. Showing ensures our breeding lines remain aligned with the breed standard through external evaluation and expert feedback, it’s also a great way to make friendships & connections with other breeders, whether they’re Maine Coon breeders or not.

Showing allows us to benchmark our cats against that standard, gain feedback from experienced judges, and ensure that weโ€™re contributing to the long-term preservation of this remarkable breed. Both in type and temperament. Several of our cats have earned championship titles and regional recognition, including our TICA Champion, Alexa who was TICA Great Lakes Region’s 2024 Best Red/White Maine Coon Poly of the year, TICA Great Lakes Region’s 2024 3rd Best Maine Coon Poly kitten of the year, and TICA International 2024 Best Red/White Maine Coon Poly of the year. Her son, Biggie, is following in her footsteps (or should I saw paw prints?) and is TICA Great Lakes Region’s 2025 Best Red/White Maine Coon of the year & TICA International 2025 Best Red/White Maine Coon of the year. Biggie recently earned his Quadruple Grand Champion title at the Great Lakes Regional Show in Dayton, Ohio in August 2025! Watching him grow, travel, and shine has been such a joy. His achievements are incredible, but they’re only a small part of what he means to us, and that goes for all of our cats. The miles we’ve driven, the weekends spent ringside, the laughter, and yes, probably a but too much money, it’s all woven into a bond that’s impossible to describe. Biggie has also received his CFA Champion title.

We believe deeply in maintaining the integrity of the breed standard to the best of our abilities. While there are often discussions surrounding โ€œEuropeanโ€ and โ€œAmericanโ€ Maine Coon lines, we stand firmly in the belief that there is one breed and one standard. The Maine Coon, regardless of geographic origin, is a single, unified breed with clearly defined traits in both temperament and structure. Therefore, all should meet the same structural and temperamental expectations. Our program reflects this belief by producing cats that are moderate, balanced, and true to the official standard. We do not breed for exaggerated interpretations, the features should be balanced and extremes only distract from the core values of preservation and consistency. We try our best to ensure that our breeding program reflects that belief: we strive to produce cats that meet the official written standard, not exaggerated interpretations of it. Our mission is to only produce healthy, well-tempered and breed standard Maine Coons that excel both in the show rings and as beloved companions.

What sets us, Lucki Maine Coons, apart from others?

We are a small, intentional cattery and we like it that way. We only have 3-4 litters per year, which means that every one of our Maine Coon kittens is raised with hands-on love, care, socialization, and individual attention from the beginning. Our small size allows us to truly focus on the quality of our Maine Coons. We know each of our Maine Coon kittens deeply and do get strongly attached to them. We know their individual needs, their personalities, and what kind of home that we think they will best thrive in. This personal approach is something that we’re proud of, and we believe that it makes all the difference in raising confident, loving, and well-adjusted Maine Coons for life.

Health & Genetic Testing: Our cats are genetically tested and/or are from parents that have been tested for the most common diseases in Maine Coons; HCM (Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy) and SMA (Spinal Muscular Atrophy) as well as PKDef (Pyruvate Kinase Disease), and PKD (Polycystic Kidney Disease). In addition to genetic testing, our current breeding cats are screened for HCM via Echocardiogram by a board certified veterinarian cardiologist. It is important that the cats, especially Maine Coon Cats are screened by an echocardiogram as they are prone to developing HCM (Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy), a common form of heart disease found in cats. It is important to note that although a cat can be negative for the A31P mutation found in the MYBPC3 gene, that does not mean that they cannot or will not develop HCM later in life. HCM has various contributing factors, many of which are still unknown, to put into perspective, we can only currently test for ONE genetic mutation. There’s said to be over 300 different potential gene codes that are not currently able to be tested for. No one can absolutely rule out any disease but, we can do our best to try and prevent certain diseases with this testing. We are also screening our cats for Feline Hip Dysplasia by physical examination of their overall health & joint mobility, and x-ray of the hips. These are preformed by our veterinarian and sent for grading. Again, although a cat can be free of hip dysplasia, they can produce kittens with hip dysplasia. Just like a cat that does have hip dysplasia can produce kittens with excellent hips. Screening for hip dysplasia is not a guarantee that the kittens will not develop hip dysplasia, though it’s an attempt to lower the risk and evidence of hip dysplasia within the breed.

Our Maine Coon cats are regularly seen and loved on by our licensed veterinarian. It’s like a party every time one goes to the vet, which I appreciate as it’s important for them to have positive experiences at the vet.

Breeding Rights: We also do not offer breeding rights. Our goal is to place our kittens in loving, permanent, pet-only homes where they can thrive. We are raising companions, not breeders. All of our kittens are spayed/neutered at 14 weeks old prior to going home, no exceptions. We do allow for kittens to go to show homes to potentially be shown in Premiership or Alter. Show quality kittens are the same cost as pet only as we cannot guarantee the kittenโ€™s success in shows. Show quality kittens will also be spayed or neutered prior to going home. A kitten being shown does not mean that the kitten is to be bred in the future.

Our Cattery Name: “Lucki” Maine Coons

We incorporated the name “Lucki” as a tribute to the joy and luck that these amazing cats bring into our lives, and hopefully yours too. Every kitten that we raise is done with so much heart, purpose, and a little bit of that Lucki magic. It’s rememberable, a fun and unique spin on the word lucky. We also felt that it was a good way to incorporate how “lucki” we feel to have all of you supporting us and how “lucki” we feel to be in the Maine Coon world.

You often ask, Why Maine Coons?

The most popular question we seem to get asked, why did we choose Maine Coons? The answer is, until you’ve experienced the love of a Maine Coon, you might not understand. There is something truly undeniably special about this breed. It is not just their size or their appearance, although their ear tufts, “lion like” ruffs, and fluffy “bottle brush” tails are certainly magical. It is their gentle nature, their personality that is soulful and endlessly affectionate. Maine Coons are the kind of cats that will follow you from room to room, chirp and trill to tell you about their day, and curl up next to you like they’ve always belonged there. They’re intelligent, confident, intuitive, and playful companions who seem to always know when their owner needs some extra love. Once we welcomed our first Maine Coon into our home, we knew that this was the breed we wanted to not only dedicate our hearts to but, also our home. They are our family in every sense of the word. Every kitten that we raise is a reflection of that deep connection, and it is our joy to help families experience the same magic that started our journey.
